Don't even consider them....
We contacted Rohde to fix our two outside HVAC units (Tempstar) and was told one, that the unit was old and no parts were available. Funny that the house was built in 2005 and they couldn't get parts. Two, that the entire electrical unit (circuit board) was blown. It was true that mice had eaten through the wire and may have caused the damage. I didn't have them do both units but had Cleveland Plumbing and Heating come and look at the other unit. They repaired it for a total, get this, $193.95. I would never use these guys.... Rohde's response on July 14, 2014: Unfortunately there were two separate issues with each unit. There are times when some service providers have access to repair parts that others do not. I am not sure if that is the situation here, however I will state that there were options given with regard to the condensing units. We had mentioned that there were multiple issues with the unit that we changed out, including low refrigerant. The cost to repair and the cost to replace were close to one another and the choice, made by the homeowner was ultimately to replace the unit. There can be times in which there is a misunderstanding between the technician and the homeowner. Sometimes our technical jargon can be misunderstood and can appear to be leading in a certain direction. I apologize if that was the case. We take pride in informing our customers as fully as possible in order to give them all of the tools to make an informed decision. To compound that communication issue, this job was done exclusively over the phone via a long distance. This can add to confusion and things can get lost in translation. Again, we apologize if we were not more fully informative about the situation, although we stand by our efforts to give you an informed opportunity to choose to repair or replace the unit. It may be a bit unfair to compare two different units with two different issues with one another. I am happy you were able to find a company to repair the other issue for you in a timely manner for a respectable price. My response to their response: found the response by Rohde to be incredulous. Yes, there were two issues at hand. One the option he didn't give me but he wrote about is, he should have told me that I may be able to get parts for this unit for the unit. What was stated to me is that parts for this unit were not available because he told me that the parts for this unit were unavailable. Low refrigerant does not cost $2500...what was done was over treatment of repair. There was no cost for repair because he told me he couldn't repair only option was to replace. The second issue is also wholly ridiculous because I have three professional degrees and my command and understanding of the technical language is not to be deemed within an excuse of 'misunderstanding. I found this humorous since I can electrical wire a house and install a security system so the notion that I don't things 'electrical' is absurd. Additionally, I met their representative on site. Telephone conversations occurred before we met at the house. The only thing that was transacted was an over charge of $2306.05...and on top of that he wanted to charge me the same amount of $2,500 for the second unit.

This unfortunate circumstance is difficult to respond to. There is a lot of speculation about the first unit's replacement that is being inferred to. We apologize, again for the misdiagnosis of the second unit, or misrepresentation of the possible repairs that could be made. As for not finding the proper parts for the unit, I can only say that we tried to go through our suppliers, but were unable to find the parts needed to repair the unit. Different service companies work more closely with certain manufacturers. We did our due diligence in locating the part, but were unable to. Again, this turned out well that the customer was able to find a service company who was able to find the necessary parts needed. I am sure that there was no malicious intent on our company's part to mislead or to misrepresent the issue at hand. We take a great deal of pride in being honest and forthcoming. If we did not meet that goal, then we apologize for the instance and hope that there is another opportunity to show our level of honesty and competence. We would be happy to speak with the customer more about this issue if need be. Again, we apologize for this instance that caused you, what appears to be, such aggravation. We look forward to showing our growing desire to learn from such instances and continue to provide great service every chance that we can.

Heating Issue
Very quick to respond to my phone call. Came right away, and asked many questions to determine the problem. Took a look at our heating system. We had trouble with it for two years, it would run fine for weeks, and then not come on. Had different expensive parts replaced, but had reached conclusion 26+ year old furnace needed to be replaced. Dan worked up prices, including removal of old furnace, labor and work time estimate, on several different models. On asking about updating the thermostats, He gave us 2 new thermostats at no extra charge. On the day of removal, his crew called first, came on time, used drop cloths on the floor, removed old system, and cleaned up area. Two days later the new furnace and thermostats were installed. We now have a much more efficient oil fired water boiler furnace. We have already seen this uses less oil. He also does air conditioning and well repairs. Very happy with the service we received.

Mr Rhode diagnosed the problem with my gas boiler very quickly. The price he charged was fair. I would highly recommend Mr Rhode.

Dan's the Best!
Dan was punctual for his appointment as always, and went right to work on the repair. He was very thorough and his work is excellent! He went above and beyond on the repair. He also looked at a problem I was having with a water line to my fridge. He is very honest and dependable. I wouldn't choose anyone else for my plumbing and heating problems.

Purchase and installation of a new oil burner
I can't say enough about Dan and his professional staff. From the first visit, quote, advice and work completion we found D Rohde Plumbing and Heating to be exceptional. Their work is meticulous. They were here for 12 hours removing an old and installing a new oil burner. I didn't ask for this, or know about it, but they replaced all the copper piping into and out of the new burner. The last people that installed a new burner in this house 20 yrs ago did not. I would recommend Dan and his company to anyone.

A great resource
This is a great resource for plumbing, heating and cooling. My father was a plumber and I spent a good part of my youth as his full time assistant. That gives me about 55+ years of experience.... These folks would have made my dad smile.... they are honest, competent, knowledgeable and take great pride in their work....I would recommend them highly.

Dan personally provided plumbing and heating services in my home. He's a top notch mechanic- with lots of knowledge and money saving suggestions. And professional and timely to boot! No issues and highly recommended. He even cleans up- leaving the place spotless.
