The estimate for some dental work is an astronomical $5,000 (after dental insurance) PLUS whatever the oral surgeon wants. No mention of you taking payments. No offer was made either. No mention of how long approximately any of the work takes or number of trips I would have to make either. Some of your staff seems a little indifferent (when I questioned the cost, one person said 'we are competitive' which means nothing to me except you are only in it for the money and do not care about people). No mention of cash discount for patient portion. No mention of doing any of the work in stages either. Dentist seemed a bit rushed. I do like the Dentist as he is personable. No explanation of which dentures I should get and the ramifications of those choices, health wise or financially. No mention of denture warranty or durability. Or future work that would need to be done later on. No mention of denture reline costs or time needed to do the job. I am quite certain there is a bad (financial) catch to the instant dentures vs waiting and getting them later. No mention of future bone loss or gum shrinkage expectations. No mention of the locking posts to lock dentures in place or their costs. Or even if they could be done at a later time. No offer of pain meds (although I do not like taking anything but am taking ibuprofen to get by as it isn't killing me with pain at the moment). Another issue is that you are closed for 3-day weekends. If I had a problem I would have to suffer in pain or extreme pain for days. You should have a dental emergency number ON your front door. Just not very impressed overall. Feels like going to the car repair shop - just another customer to make money from and be at their mercy. Oh and no offer of a hard copy for me to take of my x-rays so I can shop around for a surgeon. Piece of paper doesn't tell them much. Oral surgeons are astronomically expensive. I only need them for 3 molars minimum. Regular dentist could pull any others cheaper. No mention of that. Listening to people holler (a kid and possibly an adult) from the waiting room tends to instill fear in people. Perhaps you should have a TV set to occupy people waiting for treatment or patient pickup? Tune it to something family or kid oriented? Going to any dentist is stressful enough. Now I see why you ask if people have heart problems - the price surely could give some a heart attack. What do you charge by the hour anyway?
