Office out to get your money, perform services you don't need, and incorrectly file insurance claims
I have been waiting until my experience with this office is completely finished before writing this review to give a full account of my experience and I am happy to say that I will NEVER have to talk to Dr Cardona's office again. Let me begin by saying there are posters all over this office talking about rewards for posting 5 star yelp reviews. So take all these other reviews with a grain of salt... After moving to the area, I was looking for a new dentist and ended up going to Dr Cardona. The office is clean and the service was nice. However, after my first appointment, the dr said I had TEN fillings and a crown that needed to be taken care of. I panicked and made an appointment ASAP for the crown since that was the most urgent and had the service done. I paid $500 up front and was told insurance would cover the rest. A few months later, I get a call from Angela telling me my insurance would not cover the crown and I needed to promptly pay up. After asking more questions and prying Angela for what was going on (and multiple calls with insurance) I figured out that the paperwork was not filed correctly and therefore would not be covered. The office also did not do pre-authorization (which would have prevented all of this) because it was 'against their policy' unless a patient requests it and it was my fault for not asking. I had the office resubmit the paperwork another time, which got denied again. I asked the office write up the paperwork, with a narrative one more time but to send it to me before sending it to my insurance provider. 2 days later I hadn't received anything and called the office. Angela said she "forgot" and already sent it off to my insurance and would email me a copy. Each email I received from this office was riddled with bad grammar and typos. Now, by now (no surprise), I checked the paperwork submitted and had to point out that the x-ray was mislabeled, my name was misspelled, and the narrative had grammar and spelling issues. No wonder insurance wouldn't pay!! After calling the office and walking them through the corrections, I had them fix the mistakes and resend immediately. A few weeks later, I get another call saying I still have a $600 bill that absolutely needs to be paid ASAP. I checked online and my insurance indicated the claim has been accepted and paid. After I emailed a copy of this confirmation to the office, they relented and said "ok, I guess it just hasn't come through yet." and finally left me alone. During this whole process, Angela was rude and talked to me like I was an idiot for not just ponying up another $600. On top of all of this, I got calls and emails every month saying I was due for a cleaning. After telling me I needed TEN FILLINGS (my new dentist has confirmed this is NOT the case) and jerking me around with billing, I can assume that this office is only out to get your money. Sorry, Beautiful Smiles, I am not letting you get anywhere near my teeth again.
