Awesome Gracie Academy in Montgomery County!!
Evolve academy was an amazing place to train before they added Gracie jujitsu to the curriculum. Now, there is no place in the state of Maryland that even compares to the level of training offered here! The Gracie combatives is awesome because not only does it focus on self defense, it teaches practical, easy to learn techniques that women and children find easy to learn.

The best place around
Evolve has been a great experience. It has completely changed my focus on life. All of the staff are extremely welcoming and support with all instruction. They work so hard to make you better. As you get further into the program it starts to feel more like a family and you feel like you belong. I couldn't be happier with being apart of Evolve Academy

Can't say enough about the positivity this has brought in to my life.
Bottom line up front. Joining Evolve Academy was one of the best decisions I have made in my life. Evolve has heavily contributed to my successes in life and supported me throughout all of life’s challenges. After several years of working in a Special Operations Unit overseas I came back to the States lacking direction and missing the camaraderie and excitement that I was previously accustomed to. I found Evolve Academy while searching the Internet and read about the many accolades and achievements of it's instructors and students. A few weeks later I was in the area and decided to stop in. In my ignorance I expected to walk through the door and hear music blaring while massive men beat on punching bags. I was instead greeted by a smiling woman whom I later found out was one of the top athletes in the country. She took almost an hour of her time to ask me about my goals and expectations. She then taught me a series of basic skills that would make me successful for my first class. After this I was invited to observe a class and told that I could join if I felt comfortable. While I was standing on the side of the mats, each and every one of the students coming in for class stopped to greet me and shake my hand. They addressed me as “sir” and were some of the friendliest people I had ever met. I had brief conversations with many of them and was surprised by the diversity of the Academy's members. I met construction workers, housewives, NASA Engineers, College Students, Professional Fighters and children. In the months and years to follow Evolve Academy and it's students, staff and instructors became family to me. The owner/ head instructor Mike Moses encouraged me to apply to college and even wrote me a letter of recommendation. I often had conversations with him that eluded to how much I enjoyed my time with the military. He brought up the possibility of being able to enroll in an ROTC program and return to the military as an officer. He then took his time to write me an additional letter of recommendation that aided me in being accepted to the program. In addition one of the students at Evolve who had gone through a similar process years before assisted me with my application and resume. The end result is that I was awarded a full scholarship. While I was deployed I wanted to continue training and teaching Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. The staff at Evolve sent lesson plans and materials for my Soldiers and me throughout the deployment. Words cannot describe how much this helped us to get through a year away from our loved ones. Following my deployment I was stationed all over the United States and the World as a whole. During this time Mike Moses made suggestions to me on good schools in whatever area I was in where I could continue my Martial Arts Training. It amazed me that every place I went to train in whatever State or country I was in had some kind of great story about Mike. I have always been immediately welcomed to whatever school I walk in to due to my affiliation with Evolve and Mike Moses. As life continued I remained in close contact with everyone I knew from Evolve, despite being thousands of miles away. When I met my wife she was quickly made aware of the influential role that Evolve had played in my life. She joked that I should ask Mike Moses to officiate our wedding. I laughed and figured, why not at least ask him. The end result was that he flew 2500 miles to organize and officiate my wedding. Amongst the members present at my wedding many were close friends I had met from Evolve to include my best man. Not long after I wanted to attend Graduate School. I was happy with any school. Mike advised me to always try for the best. He stated that if I fail it should not be because I did not try. He wrote me yet another letter of recommendation to Harvard University. A few years later and many inspiring emails/phone calls from people at Evolve I had earned a Masters Degree from Harvard. I now live 300 miles away from Evolve. There is not a day that passes where I do not get a call from a student and/or instructor at Evolve to see how my family and I are doing. My 4 year old son views our occasional trips back to Evolve as an equivalent to Disney World. Every time we walk in to Evolve we are greeted by wonderful people and treated like family. My son gives high fives to UFC fighters and gets hugs from soccer moms within seconds of each other. In summary, when I joined Evolve I was just hoping that one day I would achieve a Black Belt. I am very proud that I was able to earn my Black Belt a while back. However, the Black Belt is only a small portion of what joining Evolve has provide for me and my family throughout life. I cannot recommend Evolve enough. Whether your goal is losing a few pounds or becoming a world champion. In the end you will gain a family, a healthy center in life, and an important skill.

You can't beat the family atmosphere!
It's hard to put in words, but you can't beat the Evolve Academy "family atmosphere". We look out for each other and take care of one another as if true family members. When one of us becomes sick, loses a family member, needs assistance getting to events, rides to classes, etc. others don't hesitate to step in and help. Where some martial arts schools are all about competition, even with one another, Evolve is the opposite of that. And despite this, I believe that they have the best instructors, most detailed classes and most practical systems in the DC/Baltimore area!
