Last year, we had a 3-season sunroom built on to our existing deck. Overall workmanship of the sunroom was very good. The contractor who actually built the room was very polite and extremely hard working, but we did have a couple of pretty big Snafu's. After all was said and done, we actually ended up contracting with a builder to tear off the rest of our existing deck and had a new one built on, which we had not intended to do, due to the fact that the doorway's were not cohesive with the new sunroom as they had been presented in the architectural drawing. However, the sunroom is not what we thought it would be. We were shown a demonstration where a heat lamp was turned on and put behind plain glass and the glass became very hot. Then we were shown a demonstration where the heat lamp was put behind "Four Season Special Heat Reflecting Glass" and we could barely feel the heat. This was a wonderful demonstration and actually sold us on building the sunroom. In the winter the "special glass" was supposed to keep heat in and in the summer it was supposed to keep heat out. Needless to say, it does not work as demonstrated. This past winter we used a couple of portable heaters so we could use the sun room and they worked pretty good except on the coldest of days. Without the heaters the room was just as cold as the outside temperature. This summer we have been leaving our home patio door open to cool the sunroom. But on the 90 degree days, the room is actually hotter than it is outside and it does not matter if the windows are open or closed. Therefore, we have come to the conclusion that this room is usable only on mild weather days year long and for the cost of the room, that is very disappointing indeed!
