BUYER BEWARE! Update
UPDATE From June 11th Dentist said needed root canal. Went through the procedure then she changed her mind. This was after taking numerous X-rays. Took another half day off to try and catch manager. June 14th was fortunate to catch her since she never called me back. Sat down and went over cancelled appointments, conflicting diagnoses, differing treatment plans and the fact that They started work on November 2019. The manager reassured me she was going to give (my charts) to outside consultants to review and come up with a correct treatment plan and get it done in a full day. When I questioned her she said she had the authority to schedule as she saw fit. I also asked her if I could have work done on the teeth that were giving me the most pain. She agreed. Sure enough June 30th arrives (with another new dentist) After $1086 I get nothing done that I requested and have a problem with one tooth and a cap put in a month to two ago. On this day June 30th I check out and Sam the assistant (she is very competent by the way) schedules my future appointments. We sat and went over the appointments and I even marked the treatment plan with one of their markers. Dates August 11th and September 8th. After I left I noticed the work was not broken down per procedure. They printed it out and on the back were July 15, July 28, August 11 and September 8th for appointments. Strange right. Fast forward to this date the 14th of July. No notification or confirmation for tomorrow the 15th so I go into office again and ask and they say that is an old appointment with previous dentist. Good thing I asked. But this update is not about so much of the above as when I went in today and the “manager” started to be rude and obnoxious when I asked about this date and then proceeded to deny everything she said in our earlier meeting. When I asked why she had not returned all my messages her response was, “I am busy and can not answer everyone’s calls.” I told her I was also busy and just wanted to make sure my appointments will stay as booked? She got even more rude. It’s like aren’t I the customer? Should not I be able to get the work done that I ask for. Answer; no they do what they want and I have no control. Excuse me! Unfortunately I am stuck because of my insurance. Buyer beware.

An Excellent Place for Dental Care
I have been using the services for my Dental care at Hawaii Family Dental Center in Kona for over 12 years now. The office staff when you first walk in friendly, responsive to each client, and enthusiastic. The hygienist, Jeff, who does a great job with the care and upkeep of my teeth and gums, is a pleasure to work with. And Dr. Brielle Hoisington, is just about perfect. She is fun, caring, and deeply concerned for each patient that she serves. I truly look forward to my twice yearly visit to this place. Plus my teeth are happy as well. Thank you!!!

Time to waste and money to lose?
Dr. Brielle I believe does the best she can but their scheduling system is the worst. I confirmed through their automated yersmile system at 7:30AM Thursday and got a confirmation for my appointment for Monday at 8:00 AM at 7:35 AM Thursday. I took off from work and sure enough they put someone in my spot. They had 4 days to tell me they canceled my appointment. Sorry you lost money sorry you were inconvenienced but bye. Pretty typical procedure here. As I was showing the front desk my confirmation another patient was getting the same treatment. This is not the first time. I have been making appointments since December 2019. I have been canceled on or my appointments have disappeared many times. They have done this over the last 16 months 8 times. If you do nothing and have time to waste then take your chances. For me maybe it is time to start looking for a new dental office.

Worst dental office I have ever been to
They never return phone calls. You wait for months for an appointment and they cancel it days before the appointment. You finally get through to talk to someone and the call gets cut off. You try and call back, get an answering machine, leave ANOTHER message and you get no return call. WORST OFFICE I’VE EVER SEEN.

constantly cancel appointments at the last minute
We make our appointments way ahead of time to ensure we get our 6 month check-up/cleanings. EVERY time they confirm our appointments then almost immediately cancel them because they don't have enough hygienists! Every time! We have to schedule time off work for our appointments and yet it is okay for them to cancel. Who is the customer - them? Or us, the ones who pay? The hygienists they do have and the doctors are usually very friendly.
