Unethical and Unacceptable Service!
My recent experience with Miracle Movers (MM) on December 1st was horrible. We originally scheduled a 9:00 a.m. appointment for MM to move my 1-bedroom apartment of furniture, washer/dryer, and miscellaneous boxes from Columbia, South Carolina to Charlotte, North Carolina. However, the evening before the scheduled date/time, I was informed by MM that due to a delay with a move with another customer they would need to push my 9:00 a.m. appointment to 11:00 a.m. I accepted the postponement and expected to see them. But, at 11:30 a.m. I received a call that the movers were still behind schedule and that they would arrive at 1:00 p.m. I wasn't happy with the extended delay, but because I committed to vacate my apartment on that particular day, I was willing to wait. Ultimately MM arrived at approximately 4:45 p.m., which was nearly eight hours past the original appointment. Drew (whom I assume is one their managers) squawked when I insisted that I should be compensated with a reduction in the moving costs for the nearly eight hour delay and inconvenience. He offered to discount $90 and told me "I'm doing you a favor." When I urged him to consider that it was actually ethical to compensate me, he spoke to his management and they agreed to my terms. Nonetheless, my friend and I were forced to drive at night and arrived in Charlotte at 8:00 p.m. to the storage facility I reserved to temporarily store my furniture. Despite the mishap, I was thoughtful enough to generously tip each of the two movers. I was too exhausted to remain on site and trusted them to complete unloading my possessions and securely store them. Besides I had to check in at a Bed and Breakfast before it was too late. Consequently, I didn't reach my destination until 10:00 p.m., and shortly after I arrived, I received a call from Drew that after storing my possessions his movers realized that they forgot to unload my dresser. We arranged to have my dresser delivered on Monday (two days after it should have been). In the interim, I discovered that his movers had badly busted one of my longtime, cherished lamps, but failed to inform me. When I call it to Drew's attention, he simply apologized without offering to reimburse me for the damage and cost of the lamp. I also discovered other damages in my furniture. In sum, there was nothing miraculous about my moving experience with Miracle Movers; if anything, it was a nightmare!
