My family and I will not be returning to Platinum Dental in Sandy.
I had a crown come off. The Dentist at Platinum Dental in Sandy told me that he could not replace the crown because it was too old of a crown. So, I went with a new crown. Turn out he lied, because my insurance would not pay for a new crown because to old crown was too new and should have been re-cemented in. If the Dentist will lie to upsell in this case... How many other times will he tell you that you need something that you didn’t? Unscrupulous dentists, Doctors, and auto Mechanics know can take advantage of you. When they get caught rather than eat their mistake to keep their patient, they will just look for new pray. I will say that they did offer to reduce my bill by a paltry $50. Trust is very important when choosing a Doctor or Dentist. I would not trust Platinum Dental. If you do not mind paying for, and going through, dental procedures you do not need, then they are probably OK. I do not believe the quality of dental care was poor. But expect them to upsell and squeeze every drop they can out of you. They will also bribe you with drawings for some pretty nice things. To be entered all you have to do is posts positive reviews online. And who knows if they ever really have the drawings. I should have realized on my first visit that there was something wrong with that picture. I would not recommend Platinum Dental Care in Sandy. My family has decided to find a different dentist, hopefully one that we can trust.

Never going here again
This location in Sandy was great about seeing me same-day and the staff was really nice, but they failed to prepare a smoother procedure for my wisdom teeth removal and gave me inconsistent information. I went in initially because I had pain in between two of my teeth from eating meat the night before and wanted a cleaning. I tried to floss and brush my teeth with no success. But when I visited, they examined my teeth and told me all of the things I needed work on, which was great, but they couldn't do a cleaning that day and scheduled one for the next week. I don't know why they couldn't do it that day, but the pain was going away so I agreed to do it next week. One of the things I needed done was to have my wisdom teeth removed. I asked how long it would take, they said about an hour and a half. I asked how long it took for the numbing to go away and they said about 2 hours. I also let them know that I had work later that day and they said I would be fine to go in after getting my wisdom teeth removed, so I agreed to do it that day. We started at 11:30a. They kept me awake and gave me a break at 1:15. I went to the bathroom and started throwing up the water and numbing medication I swallowed. The dental assistant who was working with me asked if I ate anything before coming in and I said no because I was just so focused on setting up an appointment asap. Then she said that I wouldn't have been throwing up if I ate something beforehand. No one there asked me if I ate before coming in. While my face was numb, I tried to eat bread they gave me and I threw that up too. They couldn't continue and loosely stitched the work they did up and set up an appointment to see an oral surgeon the next day (which was a much better experience. They sedated me and took care of it much quicker). So much time was wasted. I got there at 9:30, they only took a small chunk out of my bottom left wisdom tooth during the actual procedure 11:30--1:15. and I didn't leave until about 3:30p throwing up and had to go to urgent care to get medication and IV fluids since I didn't eat anything. My sister came to pick me up to do that and was angry and told them that they needed to help me prepare for this instead of just jumping right into it. The dentist told us that they are able to successfully handle removing wisdom teeth this way and aren't as sensitive. He wasn't being accountable. The other negative experience was that the dentist himself said my teeth looked healthy and only examined my X-ray, but then another person (I think she was a dental assistant) actually looked at my teeth and said that I was developing peridontal disease. The dentist seemed rather lazy/not too thorough with checking and doing things like the dental assistant who told me I was getting peridontal disease. He did call me after seeing the oral surgeon to follow up and see how I was doing though. I told him I am much better now and appreciated him checking on me. He apologized for the experience and stated that if I knew that I was on the sensitive side to things like this, they would have done things differently. I have a problem with this, because they are expecting patients to come in already knowing how they need things handled, when the clinic needs to be the one preparing for as smooth as a procedure as possible and setting up expectations. I didn't really know what to expect and they didn't properly inform me beforehand. I will never go here again. Don't get your wisdom teeth removed while being awake. It can be a scary experience. I had to focus on my breathing the whole time and keep myself calm and had a hard time breathing with everyone in my face. Being sedated was much better. I'm glad I got to experience both. It made my good experience with the oral surgeon even better.

Personable Dentist with passion
Dr. Clonts is a super laid back guy who’s enjoyable to talk to and he does fine dental work. I had work scheduled exactly and hour after my appointment started and he was able to fill 4 cavities calmly and have me on my way in time for work. Great guy!

Really like Dr. Sorenson
I've been to Platinum Dental in Sandy three times: twice for check-ups and once for fillings. I feel that the hygienists are very thorough with the cleaning. They always take time to answer my questions, and give me good answers. Dr. Sorenson is the dentist I see, and he is awesome. He did a great job on my fillings. He also listens and answers all my questions and issues. I would definitely recommend him.

limited visit with the dentist
The hygenists were great. I was concerned that the densit barely looked over my x-rays. He spent maybe 5 seconds looking at them. Instead, the hygenist looked over them and gave him a report. She said "everything looks fine" and he said "OK". The hygenists are not densits, I paid for a dentist to look my Xrays and do an exam. He spent maybe 30 seconds looking at my teeth, he didn't do a poke check to be sure I didn't have cavities and he didn't poke my gums or anything. Then, the hygenist got rushed and I felt did a rush job on my cleaning instead of taking her time and doing her best. I was unimpressed.

Your staff was friendly and helpful. Your hygienist was very fast, but I wondered how meticulous. I do not recommend the fluoride treatment. I have had fluoride treatments several times. I do not like the one you use and would never have it again. It peeled off in several places even though I was careful and followed the directions. I do not know how much of it actually stayed on.
