RUN AWAY! Find Another Property Manager - QUICK
If I could give 0 stars to this service team, I would. Absolutely run away and find a new property manager as fast as you can. Let me tell you my experience: My now husband (was only a BF at time) moved to FL in the summer of 2015 into a property managed by someone else. After our first year there, the owner switched managers and we were forced to use Real Estate Service Team. During one of my first conversations with Daniel Jay Barber he made me cry and threatened to kick us out of the house over a tenant. Our previous property manager let us rent a room to tenant without putting them on the lease, but Real Estate made a big issue out of this. They also later made us UP our security deposit by $950 when we moved a new tenant in and the old one left. We also had to pay to get problems fixed with the house that were NOT OUR RESPONSIBILITY. With the prior manager, if there was an issue (AC unit, roof, toilet, house systems, etc.) they would fix them no charge to us. These thieves (Real Estate) charge you $75 any time you make a service call, regardless of the issue. Tell me, why am I responsible to pay to fix an AC unit (that came from the dinosaur age and hardly works as is) when I do not own the property? We changed filters, serviced the system as requested, etc. and it still broke multiple times, one time we went THREE MONTHS in the SUMMER with NO AC because they were "waiting for a part." The worst is the treatment you get from Daniel Jay Barber. He talks down to you, yells at you, threatens you, and acts like his shit don't stink. We also had to live with a leaking roof for the better part of 3 and a half years. YES. You read that right. From move in until Dec. 2018 our ROOF LEAKED. And I don't know if it was the owner, or the first managers or Real Estate, but no one felt like taking us seriously and fixing the damn thing right. Finally, they did after we badgered and badgered and badgered. Lastly, we just got our security deposit (thank god we moved out July 2019 and don't have to live under their thumb anymore) and they are charging us $400 for "landscape fix." Um, in MY LEASE they were responsible for cutting the grass/ up keeping the lawn & landscape. We left the bushes pretty much the same, except they grew bigger (imagine that, a bush and tree GREW after 4 years. Who would have thought??). The thing is, he also changes things in the lease after you sign them, I'm sure. After signing our first lease with them after the switch back in 2016 I triple checked there was no maintenance charge for fixes (there wasn't), but after receiving the signed copy the $75 charge was squeezed in there. I guarantee it wasn't before, but whatever. I give up because they threaten you if you try to argue. We are walking away with the deposit we got back. Frankly, I'm just glad I got something, and wish you the best of luck if you get stuck with them. RUN AWAY IF YOU CAN!
