Billing Manager Would Not Hold The Staff Accountable
I noticed a would recommend button had been automatically checked on my review I left earlier. I tried to edit it, but was unable too, so I figured I would leave another review. I would not recommend coming here. The staff recommended I get my children x-rays done with my last visit. I told them I needed to call my insurance to see what's covered and what's not. Told them I don't like getting surprised bills in the mail. Several of them assured me, they had called for me and it was covered. A month later I got a surprise bill in the mail. I explained that to the billing manager and she explained to me how insurance worked. I don't feel I should have to pay a bill the staff members created. To have at least 3 people tell me, they called for me and it's covered....Then expect for me to pay that bill, it's just wrong. You guys need a new billing manager, one that holds your staff accountable for their actions. I've never experienced anything like this at any other dentist office. Never had an issue with a bill, because I always made sure I knew what was covered and what wasn't. I believed the staff, when they said they had already called. That won't happen again and I won't be returning.

I Was Sent A Bill
For many years I had been taking my children to get their teeth clean like clock work. I relocated here to NC, and asked a friend if she knew a dentist I could take my kids too. She recommended this place, so I booked an appointment for both my children. When we arrived, it reminded me of our home dentist, I felt great. While we were getting ready for their cleaning, several staff members approached me about getting them x-rays. I am not a fan of exposing my children to radiation, but I know it is necessary from time to time. When they brought it to me, I asked if I would be charged for it? I explained, ' I normally call and check my insurance to see what's covered, and what's not. I don't like getting surprise bills in the mail.' I mentioned this to at least three women in the office, all of them assured me it was covered, they had already called for me. We went ahead, got their teeth cleaned, x-rays done, went home. I felt good about the visit, I felt like I had found our new dentist home. A month or so pass, low and behold, I get a bill for seventy dollars in the mail. I was pissed, because it wasn't just one person that told me it was covered, it was at least three staff members. I'm drove my point home about surprise bills and all of them are insisting I have nothing to worry about. They already called ahead, ti's covered. To make matters worst I called up to the billing department explained the situation to them, spoke to the manager and instead of them eating the cost; she goes on to explain to me how insurance works. As if I don't know how it works, hence the reason I make all of my calls myself. I understand how insurance work, I know they don't cover everything, but if you are going to call my insurance for me, give me false information, then you should pay the bill, not me. It's the principal of the matter, has nothing to do with the amount of the bill. To have 3 staff members tell you it's covered we verified it for you, then expect me to pay the bill is just wrong. Especially when I spoke up, it would be different if I hadn't said anything. It was very upsetting the manager would not waive a bill and hold the office accountable for their actions. Instead I am stuck with a bill and the hunt for a new dentist. To add insult to injury, they had the audacity to call me to schedule a six month cleaning. I explained to the girl why I won't be returning, do you think I heard from anybody? Not one time, did anyone admit any wrong on their part. In all the years I've been taking my children to the dentist, this is the first time I've ever experienced anything like this. I made the mistake of trusting them and it came back to bite me. I won't be returning to this dentist office.

Meant to Work in Pediatric Dentistry!
I searched high and low before choosing Dr Funny and her team! I read the reviews and fell in love! We had our 1st visit with them today. Our 3 year old daughter did so well which was so surprising to me! The office is nice, very clean and colorful! We were greeted with smiles and lots of activities/toys in the waiting lounge! Our daughter was intrigued by all the TV's with cartoons playing and the colorful character walls! She left with a book and fully loaded gift bag! The Hygentist, Angela walked her though every detail of what would be happening and we couldnt have asked for a better location or 1st time visit!! #UniversityPediatricDentistryTeamRocks

Great atmosphere and professional
My daughter loves going to the dentist..the way the dentist incorporates cartoon characters is excellent. My daughter now reminds me that she can not have candy because she does not want mess up her Princess Elena teeth that Dr.Funny cleaned for her. Everyone in the office is professional and friendly. We are looking forward to our visit in March.

My daughters been coming to this practice since was a toddler. She’s now seven. From the very first visit until now (she gets VERY nervous) the staff has made accommodations, including a “special” room, to make her feel more comfortable. The first time nitrous oxide was used, I believe I was more nervous than she was! Dr. Funny talked me through ALL that was to be expected and I couldn’t have asked for anything more. I was SO much more at ease. Dr. Funny, Dr. Maynor, and the entire staff are all so patient and caring when it comes to my child’s visits. She actually enjoys it in the end and says “it wasn’t that bad!” ☺️ The quality and care you’ll receive from Dr. Funny and Dr. Maynor are immeasurable. Hands down the best pediatric dentist practice I could ever imagine!

Professional and Friendly
My daughter is 4 years old and had her first visit with them today. They were great from start to finish. As, soon as we walked in we were greeted from the friendly front desk staff. We meant the dental hygienist who gave us a tour of the place and made us feel comfortable. Of course we meant the dentist at the end who was also super sweet and friendly. I’m very happy with our experience and will definitely be coming back :)
