A bit long but I hope worth it to see how great Cory and Cottman were to us. Driving my son home from college in Atlanta to our home in Austin, our 2006 Honda Odyssey started smoking, increasing RPMs and decreasing mph while crossing the causeway over Lake Pontchartrain. We pulled over, got pushed to a safe place (thank you DOT!), called AAA and a place to tow. The first transmission place couldn't be bothered. Whomever answered the phone was leaving early (it was Friday) and couldn't take us. Cory, though extremely busy with Friday afternoon work of his own, listened to our desperate situation and agreed to help us. When we arrived, we wanted to tip the AAA truck drivers but had no cash, Cory handed us some and let us charge it. Next, he steered us to a great Mexican restaurant while he checked out the car. Despite juggling multiple jobs, he checked out the car, added some fluid, surmised that it must've overheated and "vented," explained what that likely meant and gave us options and estimates while caveating that more diagnostic was needed. We seemed stuck! We had ~500miles more to go to get to Austin and no good alternatives. There were no U-hauls available to rent to tow the car back to Austin. There were no one way rentals, flights were expensive and both required a return trip to get the car the following week if we left it with Cory to thoroughly diagnose. It might need a rebuild which we weren't even sure would be worth it given age and miles on the car. We also had lots of luggage in the car. Cory saved us. He gave us an option. Having refilled the vented fluid and done a quick test drive, he thought it just might make it if we started on backroads, kept it around 65. He charged us next to nothing and only when we insisted. We followed his advice and made it back to Austin. Cory even conversed with me the next day (Saturday) on detailed explanation of what must've happened and what to do about it. He saved us from a challenging situation and lots of hassle and expense when he could have taken advantage of us or easily avoided us like the first guy did. THANK YOU CORY!!! We are forever in your debt.
