TLDR: Beautifully built shelves. Terrible paint job. Ace management didn’t seem to care. We had a mixed experience with Ace Ann Arbor Handyman regarding 2 sets of built in custom shelves. The initial quote was lower than we expected, but we anticipated that it would likely cost more. We were quoted $1800 + supplies. An Ace craftsman came out to build the shelves, and while the process was a bit slow, the quality of the work was excellent. He came out multiple days to finish the shelves. We were very satisfied with that aspect and paid for the work without issue. However, the experience took a turn when it came to painting the shelves. We requested the painters to return for this task, but the outcome was far from satisfactory. We were quoted “less than one day of work to finish the painting”. Unfortunately, It took one contractor 9 hours to apply a single coat of paint to one set of shelves. Despite being informed that multiple coats would be needed, we were shocked at the amount of time taken and the poor quality of the job. The contractor painted over hinges, delivered a subpar finish, and did not complete the work efficiently. Given that we spent a significant amount of money and expected a higher standard of work at $125 an hour, this was particularly disappointing. Our dissatisfaction was compounded when we raised these concerns with management. Their response was dismissive, merely stating that "it will need more than one coat and we will talk to the craftsman" without addressing the quality issues or the excessive time spent. Again, they had quoted one day “maximum” to finish the painting. Here we are a whole Day later, with one set of Shelves bare, and one set needing another coat. Overall, while the initial construction work was very nice, the painting service and management response were disappointing and did not meet our expectations. We are $7000 into a project that was significantly misquoted. And we are disappointed in the response we have received from Ace Ann Arbor. I was very pleased with the service I received. I had a difficult fan install but they were able to figure it out and in short order. Much appreciated!

David went out of his way to make sure that he was meeting our expectations. Gave some great suggestions that we accepted.

Kevin arrived on time and reviewed the installation with me. He offered the option of using the new attaching parts or keeping the existing parts. It turned out keeping the existing sink flange was the best option. The installation was completed in a timely fashion and Kevin double checked is work to assure proper operation. Kevin cleaned up after himself. I would highly recommend Kevin to anyone looking for a handyman.

My handyman Alan was on time, courteous, thorough, and proactive. He kept me updated every step of the way to make sure things were being done the way I wanted and to consult me when there were different options. The finished job looks just great! I’ll be calling Ace soon to fix up my other bathroom.

We were anticipating getting at least a couple of things done off of our to-do list but in 4 hours, only one job was completed. While the handyman did good work, it took a very long time which was extremely disappointing. When I scheduled the service, I was told he would be able to complete a number of things on my list. Very expensive for only one job.

Kevin installed my toilet and was very professional with the job. He answered all my questions without a problem. I will be asking for Kevin for all of my future jobs.

Alan came to fix one part of our gutter, but noticed something else on the gutter so he fixed that as well. I appreciate that he was respectful and thorough.
