Caring, compassionate and responsive
I couldn't be happier with Senior Helpers! My mother absolutely loves the caregiver that was sent to her. Owner, Tony Haney, is always willing to take my phone calls or answer an email promptly. I truly feel that he has my mother's best interest at heart and demonstrates that by hs willingness to adjust and adapt to any new situations. I highly recommend Senior Helpers of Fairfax to anyone looking for quality in-home care for a loved one.

Reliable good service
I wanted to say we are very pleased with Senior Helpers. We needed the service to get our mother to a few doctor appointments- all of us had taken so much time off work we could not make it to a few upcoming doctors appointments. My mother needed transportation and a companion. The service was very punctual in getting my mother there on-time- the follow up email let us know exactly what we needed to know about how the day went This allowed us to follow up with our mother and plan future doctor visits. Senior Helpers superseded our expectations. It has been the most reliable service we have used.
Response from Senior Helpers
Thank you for your comments. We are pleased you are happy with the service we provided your mother. If requested by family members, we work hard to convey as much information regarding the outcomes of doctor's appointments as possible and to ensure our clients are well-cared for by the healthcare community while allowing family members to complete important professional commitments where needed.

Your go to company to care for cherished elder
I had a very positive experience with Senior Helpers and their team in the worst of circumstances. in winter 2015 just before a snow storm with a new job I needed someone to spend the night sitting in a hospital room with my beloved mother who was not in a life threatening situation. I had to be at new job but wanted someone as the second pair of eyes watching out in her best interests while she was in the hospital after a fall. They came through with only a few hours notice. Later in 2015 when my mother was dying they provided 24 hour care in addition to family. Regrettably we lost her later in the year at age of 91 but I felt that Tony and his team were terrific. He was caring, kind, attentive and the arrangements with billing were transparent and accurate. I have recommended the company to others with elderly parents. I would even use them for me if I ever had a medical emergency.
Response from Senior Helpers
We are pleased you had such a positive experience with Senior Helpers. It was an honor to provide our services to such an accomplished and distinguished woman as your mother. The stories she shared showed what a remarkable life she lived and served as an inspiration to our caregivers.

First Time and very pleased with the service
I was facing a "you can't drive your self after surgery" situation and my Surgeon's office recommended Senior Helpers. They were able to handle surgery date and my "vague" release time. I was surprised on how quickly their being there to pick me up after the nurse's call. The driver was very polite and courteous and the vehicle was roomy and clean. The drive back to my apartment was comfortable and quick. The driver even asked if he could walk me to my apartment door. I didn't need that but nice to be asked. The cost was well below what i expected even. I would use their service again as my first choice.
Response from Senior Helpers

Both management and helpers themselves are wonderful!
We started working with the Fairfax office a little less than a year ago. My mother, who is in the middle stages of Alzheimer's Disease and lives with us, had just said goodbye to a wonderful caregiver from another Senior Helpers office who was geographically just too far away to be practical. We turned to Tony, the manager of this office, and he has been thorough and thoughtful in his work for us.He found and hired our principle helper, Leonilda. He has adapted to finding caregivers to serve a schedule that has varied from 12 hours a week to 45 (when I've been working), often with little notice, finding us excellent backups for Leonilda when she was unavailable. He has not only managed the schedule for us, he has also kept in regular contact to ensure that the fit between Leonilda and my mother continues to be positive for both of them. He also asks all of his caregivers to keep records of each visit that are kept in a binder I always have access to and he checks fairly regularly (this is standard practice from what I understand, but it was not done with the previous office we worked with). Leonilda, our principle caregiver, has been patient, clever, and resourceful in her work with my mother. A compulsive spender and a bit of a hoarder, my mother's perfect day involves Leonilda driving her to a second hand store (keeping her company in the store), the two of them eating lunch in a fast food restaurant, then coming home to watch some old movies together. Leonilda has managed Mom's difficult moods (common with Alzheimer's of course) and increasing frustration as her mobility decreases. Not only that, her suggestions throughout her time working with Mom have been very helpful. For example, (at Leonilda's suggestion) to curb Mom's spending, we now make sure she has cash in small bills and we limit how much she has at at any given time. She has introduced Mom to healthier fast food (Panera Bread vs. Burger King for example) to let her feel like she's still getting out and about but still ensuring that she gets better nutrition. She has identified when Mom is most likely to get panicky about me not being around and has suggested signs I could create for Mom to read for reassurance about the fact I will "be back soon". She allows Mom to blow off steam about her confusion and frustrations without taking it personally (something I wish I were better at) and remains compassionate and patient even when Mom is being difficult. She also often does some light housekeeping when Mom falls asleep on her -- something we have not asked her to do, but she kindly does if she sees something that needs doing. I very gladly and gratefully recommend this office and the people who work in it to anyone seeking professional, compassionate companion care for a loved one.
Response from Senior Helpers
Thank you for taking the time to compose such a thorough and positive review of our services and for recognizing the value our caregiver has provided your mother. We strive to hire the most compassionate, dedicated, and creative caregivers we can find - people we would trust with our own loved ones. Our caregivers all receive Senior Gems training and are familiar with techniques and strategies to comfort frustrated seniors as they struggle through the stages of Alzheimer's. We are happy you find the daily activity log helpful and feel strongly that it provides families with a little extra peace of mind. We look forward to continuing to provide the best service we can to your mother.
