Various projects
Brandon and his team went above and beyond helping me to make repairs to our rental home in nags head. They were quick to quote the work, so the work, and send pictures. Communication was excellent. Prices were extremely fair and I wholeheartedly trust the team to do right by us, considering we are not close by to check on things. We are customers for a lifetime. Thank you for the great work!

Very unprofessional customer service
The experience started positive as said they had the knowledge to complete a remodel project. Things went wrong quickly, but kept saying ,"we are not contractors"..if they didn't have know how they could of stopped , and been honest instead of blaming the homeowners of knowing what to do. Paint job is horrible, first time all dripped all down deck and cement( after asking they did clean up).what was to take 2 weeks promised took almost 3 months to complete. Didn't even know what county inspector would need for insulation, had to take the first batch completely out and replace. If you need a toilet seat or a lock replaced/ they can do but they are not contractors, subcontractors or painters. It definitely was a learning experience for all involved. Please learn to be more professional to customers with your messages...

Mrs. Hamilton, We sincerely appreciate your feedback and apologize for the negative experience you had with our services. We accept full responsibility for the issues with insulation and the paint job, and we would like to clarify our perspective on the situation. When you initially called us, we scheduled a craftsman to come out for a free estimate. He talked with you about the scope of the project and gathered details for the estimate. From the beginning conversations between you and I on the phone regarding the project, I was transparent about the requirements of permits and building plans. I also explained that we have not performed many jobs that require building plans other than decks and stairs. I informed you that the scope of the project was nearing that of a general contractor, and we had referrals present if you would like us to get you in contact with one. Despite our conversations, you chose to use us because of our positive reviews and the timeframe of which we could get started. We were excited at the opportunity to take on the job and eager to work with you. We have routinely performed bathroom remodels involving tile and many other larger projects, not just toilets seats and door locks. Although, those are things we also do. The project started and we had your deadline in mind. As the project evolved, we assumed photos would suffice for the inspection. We were wrong and should not have assumed. A mistake made on our part was using the incorrect insulation in the wall. After speaking with the inspector, we needed to change out the insulation behind the wall per code requirements. We notified you of the extension of the job deadline and began working to fix this problem. I reassured you no matter what our costs to fix the mistakes, we would be there until the end and leave you satisfied with the final result. The inspector also stated that we would need an electrician to install receptacles per code requirements. We were unaware of this at the time but immediately coordinated one of the best electrical companies we know to come out and install the required electrical outlets. I agree with you that the original paint job was not to our high-quality standard. The moment I heard of paint spills and drips on your deck and concrete, I terminated the employee responsible for the poor-quality performance. I personally came out to clean up the mess. We have since repainted everything on the interior and exterior. We added additional trim paint on the interior and exterior that was not originally included in the estimate. I confirmed that the latest painting was to our high-quality standard. After finishing up with the painting, Mr. Hamilton stated, “It looks great!” During this project, there were several changes and additions that were requested by you or required by unforeseen circumstances. These changes and additions resulted in materials and labor hours that were not included in the original estimate. Despite these additions, our company did not charge any additional. The following items were not included in the original scope: Leak – There was a leak on the inside of your enclosed porch. This was the pre-existing wall that contained aluminum flashing. You called during a tropical storm and advised of a leak from wind driven rain. At the time, we were still working on the project. I observed and took photos of black in color sheathing that had signs of long-time water damage. We replaced flashing on the exterior side of the house which fixed the leak. We also used a mold encapsulating paint to encapsulate the stained plywood. We did not see any signs of black mold, but we took the time to encapsulate the area as a precaution and seal it to keep moisture out. We did not charge you for this additional work. Trim Work: We anticipated a quarter round, not a cedar baseboard. Baseboard is more expensive than quarter round. A quarter round is standard for LVT installations. We did not include the cost to stain the trim in our estimate nor was it mentioned in the original estimate, but we took care of this for you at no additional costs. Painting: We had no mention the exterior trim was supposed to be another color until after the exterior was painted. We took the time to go back out and paint all the trim white as requested on the inside and outside. We also repainted any area you mentioned needed touching up at no additional cost to you. Transition: Our craftsman custom fabricated a transition piece and stained it to meet your expectations. This was at no additional costs to you. Electrician: We coordinated the electrician to install the required electrical receptacles per code. We covered the costs of installing the electrical receptacles. We did not cover the costs for a fan you also had the electrician install while on site because it was not required by code nor was it in the original scope of work. Despite our commitment to rectify the situation, you expressed a desire for discounts as well as paying a partial amount of the initially agreed-upon price. We explained that performing additional work for free limited our ability to offer discounts. In total, our company billed for approximately 90 hours of labor out of roughly 200 hours spent on the project, with materials supplied at a below-industry-standard markup. We feel we did our best efforts to leave with you a high quality final product and rectify the mistakes made. We view this experience as a valuable learning opportunity and are dedicated to improving our services, communication, knowledge of permits and inspections, and project management. Your feedback is instrumental in this process, and if you have any further concerns or questions, please do not hesitate to contact us directly.

Fast Quality Service
Brandon quickly scheduled my work for the very next morning. Josh arrived with his trusty Wonder Ladder to install new blinds in 2 windows that are located about 12 feet up in a stairwell. Both men were friendly, prepared, responsive and professional. Work was completed quickly and we are very pleased. Definitely recommend your services.

GREAT WORK, GREAT WORKER
Very positive, professional, friendly, knowledgeable, capable -- we could go on -- these traits, even singly, are becoming rarer and rarer. To have them all in one worker is almost miraculous. We'd heartily recommend Jesse again to anyone.

A great company to work with!
We really enjoyed working with Brandon, Jesse and the rest of the team at ACE Handman Services-OBX. It was so difficult to find any reliable contractors before we found them. We had to phase our renovation project and we were doing it largely remote from the project site. Brandon's team came in to put our bathrooms back together after the plumbing and tile work were completed. They were prompt, very communicative, and gave us regular updates, suggestions, or ideas to make sure everything was done right and to our satisfaction. We highly recommend this company if you're looking for a Handyman service!
