John was exceptionally friendly & cooperative.

I needed my front door fixed (the doorknob was broken) and was so pleased to have the opportunity to get it taken care of quickly and professionally. The repair woman was efficient and friendly. I plan to call the service again for another repair project later, in the spring.

We got an appointment for service in just a couple of days. All of the above and he even vacuumed after installing our new microwave oven above our stove. We had John and we will definitely call again the next time we need something repaired or installed. Very happy!

Great communication. Was early. Took less time to complete the job than quoted. My fixtures look amazing! Pricing was very fair and they got me scheduled the next day! The serviceman was very professional and polite. Will definitely use their services again!

On February 17th John from the 48th street Ace Hardware came at 8:05 am for our 4 hour handyman appointment. We had scheduled our request over the phone several days ago and he had no idea what we wanted him to do. He did not seem familiar with the projects that we had scheduled. Our primary goal for this appointment was to install our chandelier.  We were told that we would 'need an electrician for that' because the wiring was old.  Sid Connor told us we could do it ourselves quite easily, but I'm busy and short -- hence hiring an Ace Hardware handyman.   Our other projects include:1) repairing a faucet to turn more easily. This would require a new faucet -- which was disappointing.  I was sent to buy a new faucet and John told me that either of two faucet styles would work. but was informed near 12pm that it did not fit, it was leaking and I needed the other kind.  John offered to leave the faucet in pieces and the bathroom unusable.  I insisted that it would be put back together since I need to use my bathroom. 2) He repaired the back door, but did not check to see if it worked afterwards.  I had to call him back over to fix the storm door so I could leave the house and go to work. 3) Two upstairs doors needed to be repaired.  He complained that it might be impossible because they were older, but we had extra hardware.  The doors are totally normal they just have pretty antique knobs and brass endplates.   One of the doors is fixed, the other is better but still does not work very well. 4) I wanted the bathtub overflow replaced by a new one.  After many excuses, he decided it couldn't be fixed and drilled the non-fitting screws flush and tore up the threads.  I don't understand why he didn't have the correct size screws with him. Nor did he ask me to pick up the correct size screws when I made a trip to the hardware store.  He made this project much worse. 5) Hanging a piece of stained glass: I didn't dare asking him to even try at this point. So John accomplished:  Fixing 2.5 doors and one faucet in 6 hours, and he made my bathtub worse.  For 700$ and big disruption to my and my husband's day.  I deeply regret hiring Ace Hardware for these repairs.  This was supposed to be a nice present for myself to have these things in my home fixed and nice.  Instead, I have a 700$ bill, a waste of time, and more work to return John's hoodie and the faucet he didn't use.  After this fiasco, a retired physician came over and helped us with the chandelier.  It took less than an hour, and did not require any of the 'complications' that John insisted it would take. John's knowledge about the repairs I had requested were incorrect. I'm now questioning all his assertions that 'it wouldn't work'. I am concerned that his professional ignorance and lack of organization caused an increased cost and poor decision making on the home repair projects he was hired to accomplish.

Excellent work, knowledgeable handyman, quick service, great price. They got us in to replace our toilet in two days. The handyman, John, called us the night before to confirm our appointment and clarify a couple details about the job. He even called back five minutes later to give us a helpful tip for prepping the area before he came. A link sent via text the day of the appointment allowed us to track his arrival time. When he arrived and looked at the toilet we had purchased, he immediately recommended an extra thick wax seal instead of the standard one that came with the toilet, and gave us the option to run get it ourselves to save the cost of the markup if he did it. He worked quickly and cleaned up after himself. He didn’t even mind having our two curious cats watch him work (“I’m an animal lover,” he said.) And it was all an amazing price compared to having a plumber replace our toilet - less than half what the plumber quoted us. We will definitely be using Ace Handyman services again and telling our friends about them!!!

I called to query the installation of a storm door - the price seemed comparable to other estimates and they scheduled the installation for only two days later. The craftsman, John, called the evening prior to confirm the job, address, etc. The morning of installation we received an e-mail with John's photo and confirmation that he was on his way to our home. John arrived a few minutes early and finished the job in less time than estimated. So, the cost of job was less than estimated. Enjoyed talking with John and asked if we could request him by name if we schedule other work. And we will ask for him. Easy to work with from his introduction to inspecting the job with him when finished. Storm door looks great! Thanks.
